Room 6 shared the post cards they had made describing the experiences of gold miners in the Otago gold rush.
Room 1 read their descriptive writing describing “something scary” that was living in the school. Thankfully, in the story Mrs Sizemore came to the rescue.

ASSEMBLY – FRIDAY 12 NOVEMBER – LEADERSHIP AWARDS
This week we presented the annual Leadership Awards to those in Years 7 and 8 who have displayed leadership during the year. LCS Leadership Awards were presented to: Andrew Grounds, Bailey Gray, Danielle Daley, Emily Lokman, Joel Harrison, Matthew McIlroy, Villie Steenkamp. The Sir Peter Blake Young Leadership Award was presented to Joel Harrison.
Year 7 & 8 Students who were voted by their peers and teachers as young leader role models in 2021.
Mrs Sizemore describes Joel’s leadership qualities that lead to him being awarded the Blake Young Leaders Award for 2021.

MĀORI AND PASIFIKA PERFORMANCE – FRIDAY 29 OCTOBER
There was no assembly this week. Instead, the whole school spent the day at Dunedin City Baptist Church (DCBC) performing and recording the items for our Māori and Pasifika Performance. Thank you to our many helpers and experts who supported us in this event and a huge “Kia ora” to DCBC for the use of the wonderful facilities. This was a day of hard work but a true celebration of Polynesian and Christian cultures. We look forward to sharing the recording of the performance with your school community later this term.

ASSEMBLY – FRIDAY 1 OCTOBER
Room 1 presented their technology process in creating these diorama fish bowls. They explained the reasons for their material choices outlining the properties of the different materials the used.
Room 2 have also made dioramas in technology. They described their favourite element of their design to us.
In technology, Room 3 built bridges to assist the gingerbread man to safely cross the river. The planned their designs before constructing their prototype bridges. These were then tested with the help of Ellie, the class pet elephant.

Olivea was noticed by Year 8 students showing great kindness to Junior children and being incredibly determined at the athletics yesterday. What a winning attitude, Olivea.

In Level 2 COVID response we are unable to host our whānau at assembly but were pleased to celebrate our learning together as a school. We hope you enjoy this short photographic summary.

Room 6 got creative with art and language based on a book about a giraffe who wanted to be like another animal.
