Eight reasons why you should consider a Christian school

  1. God is the Creator of all the Universe, the source of all knowledge and wisdom. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7).

  2. The 1877 New Zealand Education Act requires that education be secular. Instead of discovering God’s meaning in the creation, man becomes the meaning-maker, claiming to be neutral, it is actually man-centred. Hardly a neutral stance!

  3. God has given mankind the task of developing and caring for His creation. Humanism, as a religious force has taken on the task on man’s own terms. Christian education should prepare our children to undertake this God-given task in the spirit and power of the gospel. We need to live out of a Christian world view if we are to live for Christ.

  4. The Church’s task is to evangelise and proclaim the Gospel. The State’s task is to maintain law and order, promote public welfare and justice. The parent’s task is to decide what type of education they desire for their children. The Christian school aids Christian parents in giving the best possible God-centred education.

  5. The Christian school is one where the Bible, devotions, and prayers are more than religious extras in the curriculum. The Word of God is the central directing principle for the whole curriculum.

  6. The Christian school prepares the child to serve the Lord in His world. It is not a “hothouse” separate from the world. It helps the children to appreciate the fullness of the Christian task and so helps equip them to be the “salt of the earth”.

  7. The Christian School teaches principles, attitudes, and ideals that are rooted in the gospel. In the course of learning the skills necessary for living, the pupil is trained to view whatever he studies or does from a Christ-centred view of life. Be it physics, literature, mathematics, history, cooking or gardening, all things are to be ordered and held together by the Word of the Lord.

  8. Our Christian school is non-denominational, and overseen by an Association of parents and interested Christians who share fully in its operation. It is not elitist, but open to all. The Biblical teaching regarding the Christian’s responsibility of sharing finances is taken seriously.
