Fun sports for Top Kids

The Caledonian Ground in Dunedin was swamped with 840 children from 62 Otago schools on Tuesday who were happy to get active in the Anchor Mega Milk Top Kids event.

The team-based activities, modelled on the Top Town competition held several years ago, was a great way of getting school pupils moving.

Pupils from years 5, 6, 7 and 8 got interactive, and competed in a variety of challenges using “mega sized” fun equipment.

“We are incredibly happy with the day,” Anchor associate brand manager Hilary Brown said.

“There were plenty of parents and teachers and Sport Otago members happy to volunteer on the day, which was great.”

The Anchor Mega Milk Top Kids South Island Series covers seven regions—Greymouth, Nelson, Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown—and focuses on children who are not normally involved in a sport or physical activity.

Anchor was happy to sponsor the event for the second year running.

“Healthy children are the foundation of healthy communities,” Anchor senior brand manager Deborah Fell said.

“This event offers us a chance to support a community initiative that is all about encouraging maximum participation and maximum fun,” Ms Fell said.
