Lawn tractor purchase
In a carefully worded release to the board of trustees and proprietor’s council, principal Fiona Sizemore today announced the purchase of a replacement lawn tractor. Confounding many pundits, who were expecting her to say, “It’s a green one”, Mrs Sizemore described the new acquisition as a “John Deere lawn tractor including bumper bar and mulching plug. It is 19.5 hp with a 42-inch mower deck.”
Mrs Sizemore denied rumours that the purchase was made to impress ERO visitors, due at the school within the next 12 months.
The John Deere replaces the current (red) Masport lawn tractor which has had a somewhat checkered history. An accident report is still awaited from the contractor who rolled the machine in 2005.
The school community watches with keen interest to see whether Mrs Sizemore, a self-confessed fan of bright fast machinery, will herself test drive the new mower for which its manufacturers claim a top speed of 8.9 km/h.
