Liberton Christian School is located in Pine Hill, Dunedin, and caters for children from new entrants to year eight. Since its establishment in 1982, the schools has been committed to providing a comprehensive Christian education for children from all walks of life.

The schools is non-denominational and is operated by a board of trustees comprising parent, school staff and proprietor’s representatives who are fully involved in its operation. Adhering to its own special character statement, the school has been integrated into the state system since October 1999.

Each child is taught to value others, and is encouraged to develop his/her abilities, and equipped to serve God.

The school is committed to providing children with –

  • A warm, loving and disciplined learning environment.
  • Small multilevel classes, taught by skilled and sensitive staff.
  • An open environment in which parent participation is encouraged.
  • A compassionate and supportive community.
  • A wide range of social and cultural experiences.
  • A high quality well-rounded education which incorporates the national educational guidelines.

Educational goals are –

  • To encourage children to honour God as the one who has made all things and as the one who alone is worthy of their lifelong service.
  • To help children develop the gifts and abilities entrusted to them.
  • To foster among children a desire to learn about the world that God has created, and to become wise stewards of the natural resources entrusted to us.
  • To lay an educational foundation which will provide both the platform for future vocational achievement and a framework for lifelong learning.
  • To help children to develop both a genuine compassion and a deep concern for others.

Over the 19 years of its existence, the school has developed an enviable record in terms of its Christian character and the quality of education delivered.
