SCHOOL’S ANNUAL REPORT RECOGNISEDLiberton Christian School’s 2002 annual report was recently recognised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (ICANZ) in their School Annual Report Awards. The awards are judged and presented in conjunction with the Ministry of Education. In the Primary, Intermediate, Area and Composite Schools (fewer than 100 pupils) category, in which about 30 entries were received, Liberton was awarded a commendation, denoting a second placing. An ICANZ Otago regional councillor, Mr Paul Pedofski, presented the award at a school assembly on 5 December 2003. Mr Pedofski indicated that the School’s report had run a very close second in judging. “The awarding of a commendation is discretionary and is not always made in every year”, he said. Mr Pedofski said that he personally was “blown away” by the overall quality of the School’s report. In accepting the commendation, the School’s treasurer, John van Dyk, paid tribute to the contributions of Board chairman, John Hannah, and principal, Nel van’t Wout. “A report that consists of pages and pages of figures is not very meaningful”, he said. “The detailed written accounts by the chairman and principal make for a compelling report which tells the story of the challenges and successes enjoyed by the School in 2002. And what better story is there than seeing the Lord’s hand at work in the field of Christian education?” Back to Main Page |
