These acrostic poems for Easter were written by Year 4–5 pupils from Mr Robertson’s class.

E	aster is about Jesus
A	mazingly he rose from the dead
S	oldiers guarded the tomb
T	hunder and earthquakes came when he died
E	ven the disciples did not expect him to rise from the dead
R	isen from the dead!

A	t the cross he forgave our sins
S	top wait—Jesus rose again
T	ime to celebrate new life
E	ggs represent this new life
R	isen from the grave Jesus is alive.

C	rucifixion on the cross
R	ed blood as red as a rose—given for us
U	ntidy thorn crown slammed on his head
C	ut in the side with a spear
I	n the tomb for three days
F	or three hours darkness came
I	would hate to see that scene
E	aster is about what Jesus did for us
D	ied and rose again for all the world!

S	aved us from our sins by dying for us

S	tay awake said Jesus to the disciples
T	he Messiah is risen

C	amels travelled long lengths of time to carry people to worship and give gifts to Jesus—Son of God
R	aced into the temple to find men selling animals and using it as a bank when it is supposed to be a house of worship
U	seless priests tried to trick Jesus into saying something Jesus wasn’t supposed to say
C	hrist had his last supper with his very trustworthy disciples
I	n a day I will be betrayed and crucified by one of my disciples—Jesus said
F	urther on in the night he went up to the Mount of Olives to pray, but found his disciples asleep once he had finished
I	n through the bushes came his betrayer Judas Iscariot with bad plans for Jesus
E	dged up to the hill of Golgotha where they crucified Jesus
D	ied! ... BUT three days later he rose from the dead again as he had promised

C	ross represents Jesus dying on the cross
R	ising from death on the third day
O	nly Jesus can forgive our sins—he died on the cross for us
S	torms struck at the moment of his death
S	oon after, Jesus rose from the tomb and that’s why we celebrate Easter

	God’s purpose.
	He said in three days
	he would rise,
	HE DID.
	Now our sins are
