Christian character crucial

Liberton keen on core values of numeracy and literacy

Liberton Christian School is a state-integrated full primary school catering for pupils in years 1 to 8.

We are located in the northern suburb of Pine Hill and enjoy a magnificent rural outlook.

We see ourselves as a part of Dunedin’s wider Christian community, with the mission of providing a primary education that is distinctively Christian in character, of the highest quality and that equips children for life.

We care about the spiritual, academic, cultural, social and physical development of our pupils.

Our staff are committed to upholding the school's Christian character, parental involvement is encouraged, and we see numeracy and literacy as cornerstones to a child's future learning. Our pupils also receive specialist Visual Arts tuition. With our small class sizes, children receive quality programmes that ensure individuals are catered for.

We want to see all the children who come to our school grow in Christian character and become positive contributors to society. We believe each child has great worth and he/she has unique gifts and talents that need to be fostered and developed. As educators we see our role as partnering with parents to help enable this. As a full primary school, one of our focuses is developing leadership qualities in our senior pupils. Our year 8 pupils plan, organise and run theme days, support younger pupils and have various leadership roles within the school.

We were delighted to be awarded the best annual report for the Primary, Intermediate, Area and Composite Schools category (fewer than 100 pupils) School Annual Report Awards.

The judging panel in conveying the award commented that the report focused on what management and the board were doing for self-review, carried an emphasis on future strategic direction, presented a five-year financial comparative summary page (which was easily read) and provided graphical analysis of results and trends. The panel felt the report was smartly laid out, met the financial reporting requirements and acknowledged and emphasised its special character as an integrated school.

We are excited about our future as we continue to develop the school facilities to ensure our pupils receive the best education to help prepare them for life.

If you would like to be part of our school community, please contact the school office. Our principal, Fiona Sizemore, would be delighted to meet you and discuss your child’s educational needs. Join us in the journey of seeing education in a new light.
